10 Year Treasury
10-Year treasuries are exactly what they sound like — US treasury bonds with an average maturity of 10 years. A little longer than your typical intermediate bond but shorter than long-term bonds, they offer a nice balance of security and returns.
US treasury bonds are generally considered the safest form of bond, since because the government can always print more money there’s virtually no default risk.
I’m not currently aware of an index fund that tracks 10-year treasuries. Those who like them often purchase them on the secondary market directly through their broker. If you know of a good fund, please let me know.
