Large Cap Blend

Portfolio Role

Large cap blend is more commonly referred to in the United States as “the S&P500”, and is probably the most popular single asset class for everyday investors.  So if you’re looking for a simple S&P500 fund or its equivalent in a different market, use LCB in the calculators.

Market Coverage

Large cap blend covers the largest 70% of the market.  It represents the entire collection of companies within that segment and uses no value or growth filters.

Because of the way the companies are weighted, large cap blend will have very similar performance to a total stock market fund.  Most investors would consider them interchangeable.

Many large cap index funds also contain a good number of mid caps and extend to the top 85% of the market.  This shouldn’t affect performance too much, but be sure to understand the composition of any fund you buy.

Stocks on the site are labeled with either a blue or a red color.  Red is for domestic stocks and blue is for international stocks.  Note that the color may change for the exact same asset based on your home country.
