Small Cap Value
Small cap value funds invest in small companies with market caps of less than $2 billion that may be temporarily undervalued by investors.
Note that “value” is somewhat subjective and can be determined by a variety of measures, so be sure to understand how your particular fund selects companies for the index.
Judging by the number of conversations I run across, small cap value funds seem particularly attractive among various investing circles for their high historic returns. Just be careful about the annual volatility, as the individual drawdowns can be painful.
